Wake- A Sonadow Tale

"I'm sorry."
I was listening to Shadow apologize to little Jessica again. He was sitting in the same spot, the rocking chair in the corner of the house,  rocking the baby with a heavy face.
It all began my sophmore year. Shadow's a year older than I am. I was thrilled to meet someone who was excepting of someone who's gay, and who's gay himself. Almost immediately, we started going out, going to parties, and staying at each other's houses.
One night, we were at my house, and we took our relationship too far. Personally, I wish I would've waited until I was in my twenties to have a baby. When I told Shadow, he literally freaked out. It scared me a little. I was afraid that our relationship wouldn't last because of it.
During the fourth month, my fears nearly came true when he told me to get rid of the baby, so we could start over. I was hurt and confused that he would say that. I never believed in abortions. Never. We temporarily broke up to get our heads straight. I ended up living with Silver and his family. Silver made approaches to me which made me feel uncomfortable. I still loved Shadow. I couldn't move on that easily. Especially when I was having his baby and Shadow and I might be together again. I didn't know what Shadow was doing at the time. Although, when the time came to give birth, he came. Shadow rushed to my side so I wouldn't be alone.
"I'm so sorry Sonic," he said. "Please forgive me. I love you, and I want you back."
"Even the baby?" I breathed.
"Yes. Even the baby."

We've been together ever since.
Going into my junior year, I wish Shadow would forget the whole drama so he can move on. Jess cuddles with him every night. Having her love and mind is all that matters.
"Shadow," I spoke, sitting next to him. "You don't have to keep apologizing."
"I can't help it," he said. "After trying to make you get rid of her.. our daughter."
"She loves you Shadow. Look at her."
Jess was snuggling into his chest fur.
"I-"
"You weren't sure what you wanted," I went on. "I understand. I was hurt at first, but I could never be mad at you."
Shadow gazed at me with teary eyes.
"I'm sor-"
I put my finger on his lips to silence him.
"Shhh. No more sorry talk."
Shadow was silent. I'm sure he was saying those two words in his head, but I didn't want to hear it anymore. I gave him a kiss on the lips.
"I love you Shadow. You know that."
Shadow smiled a bit.
"Me too."
"You see?" I beamed. "Your smile is all I need."
I helped him up and led him upstairs.
"We should get to sleep now."
"Yes. Let's."
